VST Tillers & Tractors Gears Up to Launch Electric Power Tiller & Weeder in FY’26

VST Tillers & Tractors is charging into the electric era of agriculture. In a bold move toward sustainable farming, the company is set to launch its first fully electric power tiller and weeder during FY 2025-26.

“This year, we’ll be launching an electric power tiller and a fully electric power weeder.”
-Antony Cherukara, CEO, VST Tillers & Tractors

Both machines will be 100% designed and developed in-house, underscoring VST’s commitment to innovation and its growing confidence in electric solutions for Indian farmers.

🔋 Powered by Experience: 3 Years with Monarch Tractor

This isn’t VST’s first venture into electric agri-tech. Over the past three years, the company collaborated with Monarch Tractor in the U.S., supplying drivetrain components for autonomous electric tractors. This partnership provided VST with deep technical insights into the EV ecosystem for farming.

⚡ Smart Charging & Practical Design

What makes VST’s electric equipment stand out is its real-world practicality tailored for farmers. Cherukara explained:

“The idea is that a farmer can work from 8 am to noon, recharge during lunch, and resume work post-lunch. That’s the most cost-effective and realistic solution right now.”

✅ Key Features:

  • Fast Charging: 70–80% charge in just 30-40 minutes
  • Swappable Batteries (Optional): To extend work time when needed
  • Designed for Indian & Global Markets: Launch in India, with exports planned for Europe and beyond

Although swappable batteries are an option, the current focus is on delivering robust fast-charging systems to maximize uptime and ease of use in the field.

📈 Sales Growth Reinforces Momentum

VST’s electric ambitions are backed by strong sales numbers in FY25:

  • Power Tillers: 37,297 units (up from 36,480 in FY24)
  • Weeders: 7,458 units (up from 4,567 in FY24)

🌱 A Greener Path Ahead

With this launch, VST joins a new wave of Indian agri-tech players investing in clean energy solutions. While groups like Murugappa have already stepped into the electric space, the market remains young, giving VST an excellent opportunity to lead in the compact farm equipment category.

By combining innovation with farmer-centric design, VST is not just adapting to change – it’s actively shaping the future of sustainable farming in India and beyond.
