KisanKraft Launched Battery-Powered Machines for Small Farmers

KisanKraft Limited has announced its entry into the electric farm equipment segment with the launch of two battery-powered machines- the E-Inter-cultivator and the E-Self Propelled Reaper. Designed and manufactured in India, these machines are aimed at helping small and medium farmers reduce operating costs, improve productivity, and adopt sustainable farming practices.

Over 90% Reduction in Operating Costs

According to KisanKraft, field trials demonstrated that the new electric machines can reduce operating costs by more than 90% compared to equivalent petrol-powered equipment. While conventional petrol machines typically incur operating costs of around ₹170 per hour, the new battery-powered models operate at approximately ₹10 per hour, offering substantial savings over time.

Designed for the Future of Farming

The launch comes at a time when Indian farmers are facing rising fuel prices, increasing maintenance expenses, and labour shortages during critical weeding and harvesting seasons.

Unlike conventional machines that have been converted from petrol engines, KisanKraft developed the new products on a dedicated electric platform. The company says this purpose-built approach takes advantage of the latest advancements in electric motor and battery technologies, similar to those successfully adopted in India’s electric two-wheeler industry.

Tested Across Indian Farming Conditions

KisanKraft stated that both machines underwent extensive field testing across multiple locations, soil types, and crop conditions throughout India, accumulating more than 100 hours of operational testing.

The E-Inter-cultivator has also been independently tested and approved by the Farm Machinery Training and Testing Institute (FMTTI), validating its performance and suitability for Indian farming applications.

E-Inter-cultivator: Efficient Weeding and Soil Cultivation

The E-Inter-cultivator is an electric tiller/weeder, designed for inter-cultural operations and weed management, offering farmers an efficient alternative to traditional cultivation methods.

Key Features

  • Covers approximately 1 acre per hour
  • Delivers up to 3.5 hours of continuous operation on a single charge
  • Equipped with 32 J-shaped blades for effective soil cultivation
  • Machine weight of approximately 150 kg
  • Reverse drive function for easier manoeuvring in narrow field spaces

E-Self Propelled Reaper: Faster Harvesting with Electric Power

The E-Self Propelled Reaper is built for harvesting a wide range of crops, including:

  • Paddy
  • Wheat
  • Millets
  • Soybean

The machine is also capable of operating in moderately wet paddy fields, making it suitable for diverse farming conditions across India.

Key Features

  • Harvests approximately 1 acre per hour
  • Provides up to 4 hours of continuous operation on a single battery charge

Advanced Battery and Electric Platform

Both machines are powered by a removable Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery, allowing farmers to charge the battery separately from the machine for added convenience.

Key technology highlights include:

  • Charging time of approximately 5.5 hours
  • AIS-certified LFP battery
  • Battery life of 2,000–2,500 charge cycles
  • IP67-rated motor and controller for superior dust and water resistance
  • Quiet operation with significantly lower vibration
  • No requirement for petrol, engine oil, carburettors, spark plugs, or air filters, resulting in lower maintenance costs

KisanKraft has also integrated a smart electronic controller into both machines. The company plans to introduce future IoT-enabled features, including battery health monitoring through a mobile application and geofencing capabilities for fleet operators and agricultural rental businesses.

Availability

The E-Inter-cultivator and E-Self Propelled Reaper are now available for order through KisanKraft’s nationwide network of more than 5,000 dealers across India.
